Welcome to the new version of Potlatch, the online editor for OpenStreetMap.
Potlatch 2 is a complete rewrite. Major features include a friendly tagging system, customisable stylesheet-driven rendering, more powerful editing tools, and comprehensive relation support with dedicated tools for routes and turn restrictions.
Release notes
Potlatch 2 is beta software, currently under development. We believe that it's stable enough to talk to the OpenStreetMap server without adversely affecting data. However, it is possible that the program may hang or crash unexpectedly. Please save frequently to minimise the chances of losing work.
We recommend that you have some experience with Potlatch 1 before using this public beta. Core editing is similar to Potlatch 1. Documentation is available via the 'Help' button. If you would like to test Potlatch 2 without editing the live map, please use the test version on the development server, which is automatically updated with the very latest code.
Potlatch 2 requires Adobe Flash Player 9 or later. You will need an OpenStreetMap account to save data.
You can see the developers' list of known issues in our code repository. Please use the Potlatch 2 wiki pages to report bugs not listed there.
Performance may sometimes be slow, especially in areas with a lot of map data and when using a detailed stylesheet. You will find it faster if you zoom in. We are working on improving performance.
If you're interested in helping the development of Potlatch 2, we would be delighted to hear from you. Potlatch 2 is fully open source and is written in ActionScript 3 with Flex, for which a free, open source compiler is available. You can also help with presets and stylesheets without any programming experience. Download the source, check the README, and subscribe to the mailing list.
